Sustainable Transport and Traffic Solutions (STTS) is a not-for-profit charity initiative contributing to deliver sustainable transport and traffic solutions in South Asian Region. The Group is established by a group of people of Nepalese origin working overseas and friends of Nepal. Its current focus is on how to reduce unabated road deaths in Nepal and how to save innocent lives of poor under privileged members of both rural and urban communities.
STTS is incorporated in the State of Queensland in 2015 as per the Company Act of Australia. It has just begun its charity works in Nepal. The long term goal is to focus its activities in developing countries where over 90% of total road fatalities occur.
Over the time, The STTS aims to broaden its activities in the delivery of total transport and traffic solutions for developing countries, which are environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, economically viable and which supports good governance.
Our Objective is to contribute to the development of practical and sustainable total transport and traffic solutions for the communities of developing countries. This will be achieved by way of knowledge transfer, research, learning and development.
STTS is currently governed by a small Board of Directors with the open mind flexibility for expansion to include more professionals based on demand and shared responsibility. It is a demand driven not-for-profit organization with only those who wish to contribute to its goals Our operation is guided by ten principles of good governance for not-for-profit organizations which have been recommended by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (source: http://www.companydirectors.com.au/).
Our constitution is guided by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission's (ACNC) requirement for the Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee. Our Constitution
Our strength lies on our diverse team members who are ready to contribute to developing sustainable transport and traffic solutions most suitable and easily adaptable to the context of developing countries.
We are a team of people spread around the world having desire to contribute something to the community to which we belong. Having developed expertise in varied sectors (mainly in traffic, transport and allied fields) nationally and internationally, we know the problems, peoples and places on both sides of the world and we are able to see clearly prospects for solutions.
We are aware that what works in developed countries might not work in developing countries of the region. Also, what is required in developing countries may not be available in developed countries. But when we blend the basic principles and policies required for solutions available overseas with the real needs and environment of developing countries, the inefficiencies in reinventing an entirely new wheel for developing potential solutions for problems dominating the region can be significantly reduced. One of the potential problems, which has been well recognised nationally and globally, is how to reduce the burden of road crashes on public health and resulting negative impacts on regional economy. This is where our primary focus is on at present.
Every one interested in delivering sustainable transport and traffic solutions for the region in general and Nepal in particular are most welcomed to get involved in STTS's not-for-profit initiatives.
In the field of road safety you can do so by conceptualizing and developing one of the projects STTS has identified in its proposal for the development of Nepal Road Safety Management System (See Proposal) . You can use STTS platform to deliver coordinated activities and fill in the gaps.
